Yanworth - A Real Champion Hurdle Horse

Having missed his intended engagement at Sandown two weeks prior to today, fans of Alan King's popular seven year old will have been eager to see what he could produce today. The margin of Yanworth's victory was unimpressive, with just a length in hand over no more than a glorified handicapper in Ch'Tibello. There was no doubt that today wasn't Yanworth's primed day however, in fact it seemed a little bit of a rush to get this pivotal prep run in before the Champion, so therefore I merit this form with a lot more respect than perhaps the bare facts would tell you. Yanworth has an awful lot of good credentials for this race and has obviously been massively assisted by the damage to the Willie Mullins' battalion. A thing that is very much underestimated in the Champion Hurdle is the horse must stay, if he/she doesn't, you're not going to win. Previous form confirms this statement to be correct with many of the previous Champion Hurdle victors being well adept to Longer trips. These horses also show a necessary turn of foot and finishing power to see off rivals up that merciless hill. The more you mention the required traits required to win this race, the more you realise Yanworth ticks every box. I won't gloss it up, Yanworth has been workmanlike this year but I still think come the day, he will be primed, it will be his day. Also, lets not forget his victories this year have included lowering the mast of admirable yardsticks Lil Rockefeller and The New One. With all these reasons pooled together, I think Yanworth will take all the beating in this year's Day One Feature,, certainly don't disregard him with any confidence.
